Fushimi Inari Taisha: Shrine with Thousand Gates

Hai, bagaimana kabar mu?

Hi how are you?
It's been a while since I post something on my blog.

Today I'm gonna post about Fushimi Inari Taisha.
A Shinto shrine in Japan, located in Kyoto, which have a lot of Torii, red gates that most commonly found in a Shinto shrine .

Main gate of Fushimi Inari
Berjalan diantara ribuan gerbang Torii membuat ku teringat akan film Memoirs of Geisha.
Yup!

I think Fushimi Inari is a place you must visit if you go to Kyoto.
Walking through the thousand gates makes me remember about the movie Memoirs of Geisha.
Yup! This is the location where the scene of little Chiyo ran through the gates on the movie.

Aku mencoba terus berjalan melewati ribuan gerbang torii.

I tried to keep walking through the thousand torii gates.
It was a path of stairway. I tried keep climbing up the stairs, but I ran out of energy.

When I saw this scenery, I feel satisfied enough and stopped climbing the stairs.

Actually the path is still a long way uphill to the top, but the sky was getting dark.
So me and my friends decided to go back down.

This is Rian, one of my travel mate. Thanks to her for contributing lots of pictures on this blog :)

It was said that there are more than 10.000 torii gates in Fushimi Inari. Most of them are donated by companies in Japan.

Before riding train back to Kyoto station, we ate yakitori in a stall not far from the exit.
You can choose two flavor, tare sauce and shio (salt).

Notes:
  • You can reach Fushimi Inari by train from Kyoto station around 25 minutes.
  • If you decide to climb to the top, I recommend you to come before noon, so you have plenty of time before it's getting dark. (The path to the exit was a bit creepy because there are lots of spots that looks like graves)
  • It's better to bring water incase you get thirsty and small towel or handkerchief to wipe your sweat.
