Lengkuas Island: Crossing from Belitung to The Lighthouse

Have you ever seen a lighthouse?

Since I am living in the biggest archipelagic country in the world,

I have seen lighthouses several times. One of them are located in Lengkuas Island.

灯台を見たことある？

僕は世界で一番大きな群島国家に住んでいるので、数回見たことがある。その一つはLengkuas（ルンクアス）島にある灯台だ。

The weather was fine but a bit cloudy. You can visit Lengkuas Island by crossing the ocean on a wooden boat from Tanjung Kelayang beach, Belitung. If you can't swim, don't worry. Usually there are life jackets prepared on the boat.

あの日の天気は太陽が眩しく光っていたけど少し曇っていた。Lengkuas島へ行くのにBelitung（ブリテゥン）のTanjung Kelayang海岸から木製ボートに乗れる。泳げなくても心配しなくていいよ。一般的にはライフジャケットがボートに提供されると思う。

I went there with my friends.

On our way, there were lots of big granite stones, and one of them have this unique shape. It was like an eagle's head.

途中で花崗岩がいっぱいあって、その一つの形が少し変わっていて、まるで鷲の頭の形だった。

Even though the sky was a bit cloudy, the water was crystal clear. 

After 30 minutes on the boat, me and my friends arrived in Lengkuas Island. Dark clouds are still linger on the sky. But that was nothing for us, because after arriving on the island, we are going to have the main activity: snorkeling!

僕は仲間たちと一緒に30分ぐらいボートに乗ったらLengkuas Islandにようやく着いた。まだ少し曇っていたけで、やる気いっぱい僕たちにとっては構わない。次がメインのアクティビティーだからだ：スノーケル!

The sea water was very clear, actually the fishes and coral reefs are visible from the boat. But seeing it directly underwater was a totally different sensation I think. Unfortunately I didn't bring underwater camera. So, no underwater photos, maybe next time okay hehe.

綺麗な海水のおかげで、実はボートの上から海の中の魚やサンゴ礁がはっきり見える。だけど、直接海の中から見たほうが海の中の不思議な雰囲気が感じられると思う。残念ながら、水中カメラを持っていなかった。なので、今回は水中写真なし。

I feel a bit uncomfortable using lifejacket, but got not enough guts to snorkel without it XP 

After snorkeling, some of my friends went to drink coconut water on the island. I went to the lighthouse grounds and to look around, and I found a turtle breeding place.

スノーケルした後、みんなは島にある小さなお店で買ったココナツ水を飲んだ。灯台の敷地を見に行ったら、亀の育種場があった。

Then, my friends tried to climb the lighthouse.

そして、みんなは灯台の中に入って上まで登った。

Even though climbing up the stairs to the top of the lighthouse was exhausting, the scenery they got was worth it.

灯台の階段を登るのが疲れちゃうけど、上からの見れる綺麗な景色が疲れを癒す。

For me, Lengkuas Island was one of the best travel spot that I've been to.

僕にとって、この島は今まで行ったことある旅行行先の中で一番きれいな場所だと思う。

The clear sea water and white sandy beach decorated by the granite stones made me want to go back to Lengkuas Island again. I hope next time the weather will be sunny :)

澄んだ海水と大きな花崗岩に囲まれた白い砂の海岸がまたこの島に行きたい理由の一つだ。次回いい天気になるように。

Note:

• You can buy coconut water on the island and it cost about Rp 25.000,-
• To climb the lighthouse, you have to give donations. My friends gave around Rp 50.000,-
• Beware of sea urchins.
