Dalam kisah-kisah agama dan sejarah ada beberapa teks yang menyebutkan tentang keberadaan sihir di dunia ini. Sejujurnya aku adalah salah satu yang percaya keberadaan sihir. Namun entah kenapa kalau bicara soal sihir di Indonesia kesannya terlalu mistis dan menyeramkan. Padahal, apabila berbicara tentang sihir di negara-negara barat, seperti di Eropa, ceritanya terdengar seru.

In some of religion stories and history, there are some texts that said that magic do exist in this world. Honestly I am one of those people who believe that magic do exist. But I don't know why when talking about magic in Indonesia, the image will be kinda scary. On the contrary, talking about magic in western countries is very interesting for me.

Pasti kalian langsung ingat tentang Harry Potter kan? Aku pun salah satu penggemar film-film Harry Potter, dan karena hal ini pula aku sengaja mampir ke Osaka untuk mengunjungi sebuah tempat yang sangat aku ingin kunjungi sejak aku menjadi fans film tersebut.

All of these remind you of Harry Potter, don't they? Well I am actually one of the Potterhead, and because of this I went to Osaka on purpose to visit a place on my bucket-list since I became a fan of that movie.

Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting: Camp Leakey

Hai apa kabar mu? Udah lama banget gak mulai artikel dengan pertanyaan ini hehehe...

Hi, how are you? It's been a while since I started my article with this question hehehe...
You already read my previous article about my trip to see orangutan at Pondok Tanggui don't you?  

Kali ini aku mau ceritain tentang kelanjutannya nih. Jadi di Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting, ada beberapa tempat rehabilitasi orangutan. Selain Pondok Tanggui yaitu ada Camp Leakey.

Now I am going to tell you what happened next. So, in Tanjung Puting National Park, there are some orangutan rehabilitation spot. Aside Pondok Tanggui, there is also Camp Leakey.

Oiya kamu sudah lihat kan foto perjalanan ku menuju Pondok Tanggui menggunakan speedboat melewati Sungai Sekonyer yang airnya berwarna seperti susu coklat? Nah, dalam perjalanan menuju Camp Leakey, ada sebuah titik di mana airnya terbagi menjadi dua warna. Warna susu coklat dan warna hitam pekat.

You also already saw the photo of my trip using speedboat to Pondok Tanggui through Sekonyer River which it's water colored like chocolate milk, right? On our way to Camp Leakey, there is a point where the color divides into two. Chocolate milk and pitch black.

Sebetulnya bukan hitam sih, lebih tepatnya merah. Warna ini berasal dari akar pepohonan di tepi sungai. Karena terlihat seperti berwarna hitam pekat, air sungai jadi memantulkan pemandangan yang ada di sekeliling kami seperti cermin.

Actually it's not really black, more precisely red. This color is coming from roots of the trees on the riverbank. Because it looks like pitch black, the water reflects all the scenery around us like mirror.

Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting: Pondok Tanggui

Masih ingat tentang berita kebakaran hutan di Kalimantan tahun 2015 lalu?

Ketika mendengar berita kebakaran hutan, rasanya aku jadi kebakaran jenggot gara-gara waktu itu belum kesampaian melihat orangutan di Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting. Melihat orangutan langsung di habitatnya di Kalimantan merupakan salah satu bucket list ku sejak bercita-cita ingin jadi dokter hewan setelah lulus SMA (walaupun tidak terwujud, hiks...).

Do you still remember about forest fires in Kalimantan on 2015?
When I heard about it, I felt like I got fire on my pants, because I still haven’t see orangutan in Tanjung Puting National Park. Seeing orangutan directly at their habitat in Kalimantan was one of my bucket list since I dream to become a veterinarian after graduated from senior high school (even I can’t make it though, sob..).

And at last!! Aku mendapat kesempatan berkunjung ke Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting pada Juni 2016 lalu. Yeeeaaay! Feels like dreams come true! Seneng banget rasanya. Sejak mulai naik pesawat dari Cengkareng juga udah excited banget. Padahal mah orang lain mikirnya: "Idih, ngapain jauh-jauh ke Kalimantan cuma buat liat orangutan doang" atau "mendingan mah lo ke Derawan aja deh, pantainya bagus banget."

And at last!! I got a chance to visit Tanjung Puting National Park on last June 2016. Yaaaaay! Feels like dreams come true! I was so happy. Since I take the flight from Cengkareng, I can’t keep any excitement inside anymore. Though lots of people think: “Why should you go to Kalimantan just to see orangutan?” or “Don’t you think it’s better to change destination to Derawan, it’s famous of it’s beautiful beaches.”

Hmm.. Sayang sekali, aku berbeda dengan kalian manusia biasa yang sangat mainstream (ups). Bukannya gak suka pantai pasir putih yang airnya bening, tapi tahukah kamu bahwa orangutan Kalimantan, salah satu fauna warisan alam nusantara kita, sudah masuk status konservasi critically endangered alias terancam oleh IUCN sejak tahun 1994? Gakuku rasanya kalo bayangin orangutan punah, pengen nangis. Apalagi kalo gak sempet lihat langsung di habitatnya. Makanya pas bulan lalu ada waktu, aku gak pikir panjang langsung booking tiket dan terbang melewati deretan awan putih dari Jawa ke Kalimantan.

Hmm… Fortunately I was born different with all of you guys mainstream common people (oops). It doesn’t mean I don’t like white sandy beach with crystal clear water, but don’t you know that orangutan in Kalimantan is one of our country’s natural heritage animal, and already have conservation status as critically endangered by IUCN since 1994? I really can't imagine orangutan getting extinct. Moreover if I haven't see them in their habitat directly. That's why when I got the chance last month, I don't think too much just bought the ticket and flew through white puffy clouds from Java to Kalimantan.

Siapa yang suka rasa manis?

Sepertinya gak ada yang gak suka rasa manis ya?

Walau beberapa orang pasti punya preferensi kadar manis yang disukai, tapi aku pikir semua orang suka rasa manis.

I think there is nobody don't like sweet taste right?

Even though everyone have their own preference of sweetness to consume, I think  everybody loves sweet taste.

Omong-omong tentang rasa manis, di Indonesia ada sebuah kota yang disebut kota manis. Kota ini terletak di Kalimantan Tengah, kabupaten Kotawaringin Barat. Nama kota ini adalah Pangkalan Bun. Sampai dua tahun yang lalu aku sama sekali tidak tahu tentang keberadaan kota ini loh. Padahal kota ini merupakan gerbang untuk destinasi wisata yang masuk salah satu bucket list ku: Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting!

Anyway speaking of sweet taste, in Indonesia there is a city named "kota manis" (sweet city?). This city is located in Central Kalimantan, West Kotawaringin regency. This city's name is Pangkalan Bun. Until two years ago I really have no idea about this city's existence. The truth is this city is the gate to one of my bucket list travel destination: Tanjung Puting National Park!

Nah mungkin kalian gak terlalu tahu tentang Pangkalan Bun. Makanya, kali ini aku mau cerita tentang pengalaman ku mengunjungi kota manis pada Juli 2016 lalu.

Probably all of you still don't know yet about Pangkalan Bun. That's why I am going to tell you about my experience visiting this sweet city on July 2016.

Kyoto: Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion Temple)

Siapa sih yang tidak tahu Kyoto?

Kota di Jepang ini merupakan salah satu kota tujuan wisata yang populer.

Nah kalau kamu mau ke Kyoto, salah satu destinasi wisata yang wajib kamu kunjungi adalah Kinkaku-ji.

Who doesn't know Kyoto?

This city in Japan is one of the most popular tourism destination.

If you are going to Kyoto, there is one place you have to and must visit, Kinkaku-ji.

Kalau diibaratkan, Kyoto sama seperti Yogyakarta-nya Indonesia. Kota nan sarat nilai tradisional dan budaya. Nah Kinkaku-ji ini ibarat Borobudur-nya, tujuan wisata yang paling hits deh. Belum afdol ke Kyoto kalau gak ke Kinkaku-ji.

I think there is a similarity between Kyoto and Yogyakarta in Indonesia. Both are cities rich of traditional and culture values. Speaking of which, Kinkaku-ji is just like Yogyakarta's Borobudur, the most well-known travel destination. It's like such a waste if you go to Kyoto but not going to Kinkaku-ji.

Kyoto: Autumn Colors

Jatuh cinta itu rasanya warna-warni.

Ada senang, sedih, cemburu, pokoknya bermacam-macam perasaannya.

Kamu juga pernah kan jatuh cinta? Nah, kalau orang yang kau cintai tiba-tiba harus pergi jauh?

Hari pertama mungkin masih kangen sedikit. Hari kedua mulai resah. Hari ketiga udah rindu banget. Apalagi hari-hari berikutnya?! :(

Falling in love feels colorful.
There are times when we're happy, sad, jealous, lots of mixed feelings.
You also have the experience of falling in love don't you? Then if suddenly your beloved person have to go far away?
The next day probably still just fine. The second day you'll get anxious. And the third day you'll miss that person badly. Moreover on the days after that?! :(

Sama seperti saat ini, aku sedang dilanda rindu pada suatu tempat indah yang pernah aku kunjungi pada November 2014 lalu. Saat itu aku bersama teman-teman seperjalananku berkelana ke Kyoto, dan tujuan utama kami adalah hutan bambu Kyoto yang terkenal itu. Kalau kamu sudah baca postingan ku yang sebelumnya, kamu akan tahu tempatnya seperti apa.

Just like now, I missed a wonderful place that I've visited on November 2014. At that time, me and my friends went to Kyoto, and our main destination was the famous bamboo forest. If you already read my previous post you already know what kind of destination that place is. If you haven't read it yet, you can check it out here: Kyoto: Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.

Setelah dari hutan bambu, kami mau ke jembatan Togetsu. Di sana sebetulnya aku dan teman-teman ku sering bertengkar, beradu pendapat tentang jalan mana yang sebaiknya kita lewati. Nah, aku tuh tipe orang textbook pada awalnya, jadi aku berpendapat sebaiknya ikut arahan dari google map saja. Sedangkan teman-teman ku mencoba bertanya ke penduduk sekitar. Mereka bertanya kepada seorang kakek yang sedang lewat "lewat mana sebaiknya kalau mau ke Togetsu-kyo (jembatan Togetsu)?"

After we went to the bamboo forest, we are going to Togetsu bridge. At that time, me and my friends argue a lot about which way we should go to. I was a textbook-type person back then, so I suggest all of us just follow the direction of google map. But my friends tried asking to a local person instead. They asked a senior citizen "which way should we take if we want to go to Togetsu-kyo (Togetsu bridge)?"

Si kakek tersenyum dan menjawab sambil menunjuk dengan tangan keriputnya "jalan saja terus lewat jalur ini. Kalian akan menemukan kirei na tokoro (tempat yang indah)." Di antara kami berempat, selain aku, tiga orang teman ku semuanya setuju untuk mengikuti arahan dari si kakek. Apa boleh buat, akhirnya aku juga ikut suara terbanyak.

The senior citizen smiled, point his wrinkled finger and answered "just go through this way. You will find kirei na tokoro (a beautiful place)." Except me, the rest of my friends agreed to follow his direction. I have no choice but to follow them.

Kami sampai di sebuah taman bernama Kameyama Koen. Koen dalam Bahasa Jepang artinya taman. Taman Kameyama ini penuh dengan pepohonan rindang. Musim gugur mempercantik pepohonan di taman ini, karena warna dedaunannya sudah berubah menjadi kuning, jingga, dan merah.

Then we arrived in a park named Kameyama Koen. Koen in Japanese means park. Kameyama park was full of shady trees. Autumn season beautifies the trees in this park, because the colors of the leaves already turned into yellow, orange, and red.

Belakangan ini Jakarta sering diguyur hujan.

Kalau hujan turun rasanya sejuk, dan setelah hujan berhenti udara jadi sedikit lebih bersih. Kemarin, sepulang dari aktifitas saat hujan turun, tiba-tiba aku teringat tentang sebuah tempat yang pernah aku kunjungi di Jepang.

Lately it's raining often in Jakarta.

If the rain falls, I feel so comfortable because it feels cool and the air became a bit cleaner after the rain stops. Yesterday after I finished my daily activities, rain fall down and suddenly I remembered about a place I have visited in Japan. 

Tempat yang ku kunjungi pada musim gugur saat itu adalah sebuah tempat di Kyoto, yang berjarak sekitar 15 menit naik kereta dari Stasiun Kyoto.

That place that I visited in Autumn is a place in Kyoto, which located around 15 minutes by train from Kyoto Station.

Belitung: The Stunning Beauty of Kaolin Lake

Today I want to share about a place with a good scenery.

Just like my blog post before, this place is also located in Belitung, Indonesia.

今日は景色のいい場所についてシェアしたいと思います。

私の前のブログの記事と同じく、今回の場所もインドネシアのBelitung（ビリトン）にあります。

Maybe some of you already know, not only blessed with a beautiful nature, Belitung is also rich of natural resources such as tin and granite. Especially tin, the mining was started during the Dutch colonization era on 1851. Other than that, there is also kaolin (or kaolinite), a white colored clay mineral that have lots of benefits such as curing diarrhea and some skin inflammation.

皆さんの中に既にご存知の方はいるかもしれないですが、きれいな景色だけではなく、ビリトンは錫や花崗岩のような天然資源で豊富な島です。特に錫、錫の鉱業は1851年にオランダの植民地化の時代から開始されたそうです。それ以外に、白い粘土のような鉱石、カオリン、又はカオリナイトと呼ばれる鉱物もあります。カオリナイトは肌の炎症や下痢のために効果があるそうです。

In Belitung there is a remaining of a kaolin mine that turns into a crater. People call this place as Kaolin Lake.

ところで、ビリトンでは湖になったカオリナイトの鉱山があります。カオリン湖と呼ばれています。

Belitung: Sekolah Laskar Pelangi (From The Novel: The Rainbow Troops)

Aku masih ingat waktu aku duduk di bangku kelas 3 SMA, saat itu guru wali kelas ku, Ms. Rina (panggilan Ms karena beliau adalah guru Bahasa Inggris) pernah merekomendasikan sebuah novel. Novel tersebut berjudul Laskar Pelangi.

I still remember when I was in 3rd grade of senior high school, my homeroom teacher, Ms. Rina recommended us a novel called Laskar Pelangi.

Awalnya aku tidak tertarik sama sekali. Tapi ternyata beberapa teman ku sudah membaca novel tersebut. Aku jadi penasaran karena novel itu tidak hanya menjadi buah bibir di kelas ku, siswa siswi kelas lain juga ikut membicarakannya. Hingga akhirnya rasa penasaran ku membawa ku ke toko buku sepulang sekolah. Aku menemukan Laskar Pelangi di bagian best seller.

At first, I was really not interested at all. But actually some of my classmates already read the novel. Not only my classmates, other students form other class also talked about it a lot, which made me curious. So, in order to fulfill the thirst of my curiosity, I went to the bookstore on the way home after school. Finally I found Laskar Pelangi on the best seller section.

Setelah membacanya, aku jadi tau kenapa novel Laskar Pelangi sangat direkomendasikan oleh wali kelas ku. Isinya sarat makna dan membuat mata ku terbuka tentang pentingnya pendidikan. Kisahnya berlatar belakang di pulau Belitung tentang kehidupan bocah-bocah yang hampir tidak bisa bersekolah karena sekolahnya kekurangan murid. Tidak jarang penulis mengambarkan kondisi Belitung dalam ceritanya, membuatku mudah untuk membayangkan bagaimana rupa Belitung saat itu.

After finished reading the novel, I clearly understand why my homeroom teacher recommended us to read it. The book was full of meaning and made my eyes opened about how important education is. The story is about the life of children who almost cannot enter school because the school was lack of student, with Belitung island as the background. The author writes a lot about Belitung in the novel, which made me easier to imagine Belitung island at that time.

Bulan Juni 2015, aku mendapatkan kesempatan ke Belitung. Aku berkesempatan mengunjungi replika SD Muhammadiyah, sebuah sekolah dasar tempat tokoh utama novel Laskar Pelangi belajar bersama kawan-kawannya.

June 2015, I got a chance to visit Belitung. I visited the replica of SD (Elementary School) Muhammadiyah, the school where the main character of Laskar Pelangi and his friends studied together.

Hiroshima: Dari Lokasi Asyik Yang Mainstream Sampai Tempat Wisata Asyik Dengan Hewan Berbulu

Kalian pasti sudah tidak asing lagi dengan Hiroshima kan?

Yup! Kalian benar!

Hiroshima adalah salah satu kota yang menjadi target bom atom oleh Amerika saat Perang Dunia II. Ternyata masih ingat toh pelajaran sejarah waktu sekolah dasar, ingatan kalian bagus juga.

Kota Hiroshima terletak di Prefektur Hiroshima berlokasi di wilayah Chugoku, yaitu bagian barat Honshu, pulau terbesar di Jepang. Dibalik kisah pedih saat PD II, Prefektur Hiroshima memiliki beberapa lokasi wisata yang menarik.

Penasaran kan ingin tahu apa saja lokasi wisata di Prefektur Hiroshima?
